Australia have won back-to-back Palma World Long Range Rifle Championships in a closely fought contest held in Bloemfontein, South Africa. In the closest matches in the competitions history, Australia (7172.996) came out on top at the final range on the final day, beating England (7168.1005) by 4 points, to South Africa (7153.869) who were in third. The win is the second time in a row that Australia have won, after victory in 2019 in Trentham, New Zealand. Learning to read wind and coach in rifle shooting is a challenging thing. Many of the clubs which host Try Shooting events have people with many years of experience in coaching and reading wind. Our clubs have coaches who can help with beginners, all the way up to elite shooters.

Many of the clubs that host the Try Shooting events have Australian Team members in them. These members sacrifice their time to helping new shooters get the best out of their experience and have a great day. New shooters will gain invaluable information and advice from spending time with these experienced shooters.

Many of the clubs who conduct the shooting events for Try Shooting have State team members in them. The NSW State Target Rifle team is a very dominant team with a history of successful tours since the 1860’s. These people have a lot of history and experience in shooting.

The founder of Try Shooting, Matt Shepherd, is a third generation shooter who is very passionate about the sport of shooting. He is a current NSW State Team and Australian Palma team member. He has been selected to represent NSW for the past three consecutive tours in 2018 (WA), 2020 (Bris) and 2022 (Can) and the past two consecutive Australian Palma teams including winning the Palma World Teams Championship in Trentham NZ in 2019 and going for two in a row in South Africa in 2024.
