A Full Day course for those who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the fundamentals of shooting. Starting the day with a small bore .22 rifle the course advances up to the full-bore 7.62mm long range experience.
Choose between Target Rifle, F-Class, Sporter Hunter or Small Bore on the day.

A Full Day course for those who are interested in gaining a better understanding of the fundamentals of shooting. Starting the day with a small bore .22 rifle then advancing to the full-bore 7.62mm long range experience. Ideal for anyone looking to improve their technique or take up shooting competitively.
Includes
- Safety briefing
- Basic operations of a firearm, scope and sights, trigger control, position, breathing techniques and rifle recoil.
- Explanation of range operations
- 50 rounds of a .22 rifle from 50m to 200m (dependent on the range)
- 12 rounds of a 7.62 or 5.56 high powered target rifle from 300m up to 800m (depending on range program)
- Includes a sausage sizzle lunch and drink
- Take home target & Image of your e-target
- Approx 7 hour event (All day)
- Safety equipment provided on the day
NOTE: That the maximum allocated time per person, per shoot is 25 minutes. If a person has issues sighting or using a firearm competently and takes longer than the allocated time, or due to the group size is unfairly impacting the broader group, that person may have to forego rounds in order to complete the session in time and this will constitute completion of their booking.

I recently attended the Fundamentals of Shooting Course at Try Shooting’s Metropolitan Sydney location, and it was an absolute blast! From start to finish, I had a great day immersing myself in the basics of rifle shooting. We got hands-on experience with two different calibre rifles, firing at both a 50m and a 300m range, which really helped build confidence and understanding of how distance affects accuracy.
The team was fantastic—super knowledgeable, patient, and focused on safety above all else. They provided clear, step-by-step instructions that made it easy for beginners like me to shoot accurately while ensuring everyone followed proper protocols.
